MaryLou Driedger

MaryLou Driedger has been a weekly columnist for a Manitoba regional newspaper The Carillon since 1986. She worked for three years as a columnist for the Winnipeg Free Press before moving to Hong Kong in 2003 where she was a member of the Hong Kong Women in Publishing group and had her writing and photographs appear annually in their anthology. During the years she lived in Asia she traveled extensively and contributed articles regularly to travel websites. She has done freelance work for many educational, religious and lifestyle publications, authored institutional histories and collaborated with Winnipeg composer Craig Cassils to write the lyrics and script for a musical. MaryLou worked for a decade for a faith based publisher writing curriculum materials and her meditations have appeared annually in the Rejoice devotional series since 1993. After moving back to Canada in 2011 MaryLou has been exploring children’s writing through classes and regular meetings with a children’s writing group. MaryLou is a member of the Manitoba Writers Guild. She retired from her teaching career in 2011 and now works as a faculty supervisor for the education department at the University of Winnipeg and as a tour guide at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
